My husband, our son and i came for Italian dinner on Sunday to Ambrogio15 so our son can carb load while here in San... Diego Surf Sports park for National Soccer Finals. We had very personable and attentive server Ian 5*/5*. We started with caesar salad for appetizer followed with Lasagna's one vegetarian mushroom and one beef and my husband got pizza. The food was delicious however did not make my top Italian list so 4*/5*. If you up for a pizza this is great place with ton of choices however if you thinking pasta there was none aside from two types of lasagna's. I also found wine by the bottle's on expensive side. When the waiter handed me the Parmesan cheese in the shaker jar contained a live BUG inside 😷 🤮Obviously I complained about the live bug 🐜 and returned it.The pizza was not to my liking since it was very slim on every ingredient. I had the pizza below and my wife had the Prosciutto w/ Barata cheese on a red sauce. Both were fantastic and best thing, plenty to take home and experience again. The young lady that guided us through our dinner, since it was our first visit, was really nice and quite helpful. As a matter of fact she recommended my pizza and NAILED the recommendation! We were looking for a nice night out with great food for our last night in San Diego. We made a reservation for 2,... showed up, and were seated outdoors. (We were not asked for preference of indoors/outdoors despite it being a chilly night that we clearly weren’t dressed for.) After nobody came to acknowledge our table for a while, we grew suspicious, but figured it was just a slow start. A server finally came to take our order, but it was only after he came back with our drinks and put in our order that he informed us that the pizza might be a bit slow because there was a wedding(!?) and another large party ahead of us. We felt that was pretty strange since at NO POINT when we made our reservation earlier that day, called on our way, or arrived at the restaurant to be seated was it mentioned that they were over capacity, but figured it was pizza - how long could it take? Well, we sat for 30 minutes after ordering without being checked on or acknowledged by our server. At that point, as I’m sure we were looking visibly annoyed, our server came over and gave us a free meat and cheese platter. I will admit this temporarily perked us up, but that shine faded fast when we found ourselves waiting another half hour for the pizza we ordered. Yes, that’s right - over an hour for pizza that probably stays in the oven for 5 minutes, as a generous calculation. The pizza was tasty, but far from the best I’ve had, and the wait was inexcusable. When we finally got the bill, we had very little apology for the horrendous service - just excuses about how their oven only allows for a small number of pizzas at a time. It was clear, however, that the server was more interested in trying to be friendly to us while we had the bill in hand than he had been for the rest of the night when we were generally ignored, as he seemed fearful his tip would be affected. I can’t help but feel like this establishment cares about little more than their bottom line, as the least they could have done was warn us in advance that they wouldn’t be able to provide us with efficient service so that we could decide for ourselves whether we wanted to wait, or go elsewhere - it’s not like they didn’t have multiple opportunities before putting in our order and serving our drinks. As it stands, I will return to San Diego for sure, but never to this establishment.read more

Wow, I’m not sure I can accolade this restaurant in the way it deserves to be! From start to finish, our experience was... delightful. The service was great; our waitress was personable and kind and made good recommendations. The pizza was the best I’ve ever had. I’m not a connoisseur of fine pizzas by any means, but this was by far the highest quality pizza I’ve encountered. The meats, sauces, veggies, and cheeses are all of finest quality; next time we go back I look forward to taking advantage of their “build your own” meat and cheese board to try more of the meats and cheeses. They had a great wine list with plenty of selections to choose from. Lastly, I cannot recommend the tiramisu enough. Get some espresso for a nice finish or with the tiramisu. We ordered the to-go Christmas menu and can't recommend it enough! Lots of delicious food really made it feel like a... night out even though we were at home. We've ordered several other "upscale" to-go dinners and this one was the easiest to plate/eat. We kept the pizza in the oven on warm while we enjoyed our cheese plate and apps. This is a really swell place. Initially, when I wanted to go they ran out of marinara which bummed me out...BUT it was... worth the wait! Julie works the kitchen and you can tell she put her heart into her food. Everything is done with so much care and attention that is not seen often. We were thrilled with our two pasta dishes, a roasted veggie salad, and fries. It is a small place with one table for a friendly vibe. Classy establishment. A bit pricey, but you definitely don’t feel ripped off. Some people say this is the best pizza... in San Diego, I wouldn’t go that far, but it definitely feels authentic to Italy. Crust is kind of thin, little amount of cheese, but the sauce is fairly sweet which is nice. Good wine selection and desserts too.
